In the field of emergency nursing, he has published several articles in national and international journals regarding emergency triage.

Triage is the front line of a hospital emergency department, functioning to sort patients based on their level of emergency. The use of emergency triage instruments in hospitals varies according to their respective policies. The current emergency triage instruments determine patient emergency treatment priorities based on physiological needs disorders using the airway, breathing, and circulation approach (ABC approach), complaints and symptoms, urgency, safe waiting time for the patient, and the amount of resources needed. These instruments have weaknesses, including an inability to sort patient emergencies involving airborne diseases, psychiatric emergencies, and other conditions, which results in mistriage and impacts service quality and satisfaction. Dr. Chanif is interested in conducting research aimed at developing an emergency department triage instrument that determines the patient's level of emergency based on fulfilling basic human needs, with the goal of improving the quality and satisfaction of emergency services.
